Powerful Words - Eternal Quotes
It's possible that the legacy my mother left for me is the joy I find in playing with words. She was constantly playing word games, writing poetry, and saying things that made no sense at all. We grew up knowing that our clothes didn't match when our mother would look at us and say, "You look like Ikey Forcus."
Neither my sister nor I ever asked who in the heck Ikey Forkus was, but we knew he must have combined stripes and plaids a lot!
Here's the funniest thing about what my mother said: Her quote lives on through me and my adult children. "Go put something else on," I would say to my boys, "You look like Ikey Forcus."
Last week my granddaughter told me that she was late coming out to the car (where I was waiting for her) because she looked like...You've got it!....Ikey Forcus and needed to make a quick change of clothes!
I was trying to think if I've said anything original enough for my kids to remember. Before I write anything down, I'm going to ask them to be sure. I have an idea of what they might say. I'll report back.
Meanwhile, do you think you have pontificated an idea, opinion, or emotion enough that it will be an eternal quote? If so, what will your eternal quote be? If not, what famous quote applies to you the most? Please share!

Creative Movement
I honestly can't remember if we've used movement to awaken our creative thinking before. So since I can't remember, maybe you can't either!
Let's give this idea a shot. Think about how various animals or mother nature or mechanical objects move.
As you think about the movement of the object that your imagination conjures up, write a phrase that shows that movement.
I'll go first:
flounder and flail like a fish on the dock
or
water gushing and leaping out of the washing machine
Did my phrases paint a picture for you?
Now it's your turn. Let's see how many phrases we can come up with that show the movement of anything that comes to your mind. Please share!!!!

Lazy Writer's Block
I've been a bad girl. I have two articles due to a magazine tomorrow and they're not done yet. Normally I would have had them completed weeks before deadline but something's wrong with me. I don't want to write them. Why? Because they're not fun. Sure they're worth a little money but they're boring. I've become spoiled by having so much fun right here with you.
So please do me a favor and give me a kick in the rear. I will not miss my deadline but I will not have my usual writing fun. Shame on me! At least I have work.
I have probably offered advice to you somewhere along the line about writer's block. If you remember what it was, please share! Any thoughts are welcome. Also, don't accept my excuses about what a busy couple of weeks I've had. Even though that's true, it's totally out of character for me to be this far behind!
I plan to catch up on my blogging and your posts very soon!

Rack Your Brain!
I was going to title this post Think About It but that just wasn't enough. I wanted to get away from our usual writing activities and do something a little different. I decided it would be pretty neat to come up with a list of things that we have almost...but not quite...done.
Then I ran into a little difficulty. I actually had to rack my brain to come up with something (although I'm sure there are many things) that I have not quite accomplished even though I've tried really hard. My wheels were turning. Maybe you'll have an easier time than I did. Actually, once I see some of your ideas, maybe I'll have more. This could very well be an activity where we feed off each other.
So, WHAT IS SOMETHING THAT YOU HAVE ALMOST...BUT NOT QUITE...DONE?
Good luck!

If You Could Only Read Minds!
Have you ever glanced at someone in an ordinary situation and wondered what they were thinking? I have, but that's just me. I look at everyone as a character for a future book. I even can get a little imaginary dialogue going on!
For our writing activity today, I want you to picture a suntanned thirty-something man standing at the front of a very long line. You watch as he glances over his shoulder, but you can't see his eyes because they're hidden behind his sunglasses. You think you see a smile tug at the corner of his mouth but you're not sure because he seems to be sucking on a mint or piece of candy.
Knowing that this man is first in a horribly long line, what do you think is going through his mind as he surveys the crowd behind him?

Writing Prompt Time
Plain and simple. Here it is:
Fortunately one day, I got a letter that said........
It's all yours! Paint with words to finish the sentence or create a paragraph. Anything goes! Can't wait to read what you have to say. You know I'll chime in too...I just can't help myself!!
By the way....if you have time, take a peek at my animal blog. Any money I earn from the google ads there is going towards a vet bill for my latest temporary rescue. This dog has all its shots, but is going to need a health certificate for across the state transport....
