Take a Trip On an Owl!

Once again I've been inspired by Tweedles. She sent me a photo of an owl in her backyard and asked, "Would you like to ride him?"

I didn't even take the time to think about the fact that I probably couldn't ride Owlbert...at least not tonight...I just began to think about where I'd like to go!

So, with Tweedle's permission, I'm going to share the photo that she sent me and ask you the same question. Forget that you're all grown up and let your imagination run away with you!

Would you like to ride Owlbert? Don't be shy! Let your inner-child take over and have the trip of your lifetime! Where will you go on Owlbert? What will you do? How will you feel? How will Owlbert feel? HAVE FUN! No need for a long explanation...unless you want to.....just a few words about where you're going on your adventure! You can travel lots of your journey in your mind's eye!

Teachers: Ask your kids the same question! Creating an environment that says it's okay to be joyfully imaginative lends itself to lovely colorful creative writing!

There's no question Owlbert. I know what I want to do and where I want to go! Take me with you for a ride in your woods. I'll make myself very small and hide under your feathers. I want to see your woods as you see it...I want to be a creature of the forest...just like you!

Owlbert will sweep down low and scoop me right up onto his back. It's a chilly night, but it does not matter! I will push my little paws deep into the feathers and bury my face on his warm neck. With a big swoop we will be up in the air, through the forest trees and then high above the tallest of them all. We will sail towards the moon- we will see all the other little owl eyes looking at us! We will swoop up and swoop down- and we will glide so gently in the breeze and it will be a time of our lives!
Thank you Owlbert

Owlbert loves to share his forest with us. He loves to show us the magic that he sees.
If you listen closely- you will hear him whoooo whooo

Yes I want Owlbert to take me to the skies, so high that I could get a view of the volcano craters which I have been aspiring for a long time.

Owlbert, please come to my house, I want to go on a journey far away. I am sitting so snuggly on your back, the softness of your beautiful feathers surrounds me. Up and up we go, high into the sky. I see the stars glide past me, they sparkle like diamonds. Down below I see the lakes and trails through the forest. I never knew there were so many animals. Oh what a world this is, in all my imagination I could never have dreamed all of this. Mountains so high and it is all so peaceful from up here. I wish people could see the world like this, maybe they wouldn't be so sad all the time. I am going home now so that Owlbert can take another on a journey. Thank you Owlbert and thank you Tweedles and Jan for sharing Owlbert with me.

Was just wondering whether Wolbert would take me to see Winnie the Pooh in the Hundred Acre Wood? We could sit and chat about the problems we have trying to understand long words when you have a very little brain; and then eat toast and honey for tea.

I WANT OWLBERT TO SWEEP ME UP IN HIS BEAUTIFUL WHITE FEATHERS,AND FLY THROUGH THE NIGHT INTO THE FOREST, WHERE YOU HEAR SCREECHING NOISES, AND THE RUSTLING OF THE LEAVES. THE COOL WIND HITTING AGAINST MY CHEEKS, UP, UP, UP, WE GO TAKE ME TO THE BRIGHTEST STAR OWLBERT, SHOW ME THE MAN IN THE MOON, FLY OWLBERT FLY. TAKE ME TO THE OCEAN, AND LET ME FEEL THE CRASHING WAVES, FLY OWLBERT, FLY. RIZZI

Owlbert could come and take me on his back to the end of the rainbow. The ride would be as soft as the down from under his feathers. It would be a warm breeze that rushed around us on our flight because everyone knows that owls don't like the cold, right? We would land at the end of the rainbow and watch the leprechauns filling the bucket of gold.

Thank you Jan for your kind words last week.

Hi, Jan!

I know we have owls here in the Chicago area, but I've never seen one. It's so cool to see one in flight and hear what people would do if they could ride it.

When I see a hawk I just stop dead in my tracks. I love watching birds of prey.

I would love Owlbert to take me on a flight on his back so I could see all kinds of birds of prey soaring and doing what they do. I only catch a glimpse from time to time, so getting to spend an evening with Owlbert would be a great experience for me. It would be like "take a human to work day" for an owl.

Thanks for sharing the photo.

Owlbert is so pretty! He would most likely faint if he thought I was going to sit on him and go for a flight!

Sweeping the autumn night sky on the downy back of Owlbert would be a delight! Magical under a full moon, feeling the whoosh as we catch an updraft, looking down below to a world seen differently from above.

Such beautiful words, such a magical picture. I intend to share it with my three year old in the morning and ask him where he'd go. :-) Thank you for sharing.

Owlbert has been coming through the dark pine forest to eat the scraps my mama leaves out for the big white dog. I watch for Owlbert but he has been too fast for me and I think maybe he has magic because he is white and I am white and magic? Mama worries I may try to chase Owlbert and run and run under the fence where she can't get me. Daddy said he saw wild boars today someplace called Big Island and she wonders if they live here. I think maybe a wild boar might be a match for me?

And now a word from "Mama".
I just now went back to Missouri Books Jan and saw your message, I'm SLOW.
Thanks,
