Name that Tune!

"Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent."

Have you ever heard a song and fallen in love again?  Have you heard a song that makes you want to get up and dance no matter how badly your body feels?

Have you hummed a song in your mind, and as the lyrics ignited your emotions,  thought "That's what I really want to say ....."

What does music do for you?  Name that tune!

Use Your Senses as a Trigger

Use your senses to conjure up images of fall.  Think about how autumn smells.  How it tastes.  How it feels.  Think about how autumn sounds.

Now wallow in the joy of language as you finish the sentence below:

Autumn seemed to burst with beauty as I.....

Think Fast and Paint a Picture With Your Words!

Quick! What's the first thing you think of when I say the word GRASSHOPPER? Write a sentence about the image that popped into your mind's eye!

I'll go first: Hundreds of reckless grasshoppers jumped into the path of the tractor just in time to live another second!

Playing With Words!

I have fun with facebook because it's quick and easy. I share pictures of my family, my horses, my dogs and all other kinds of things there. Yesterday I shared an idea or rather a thought that was rattling through my mind.

I wondered (on facebook) if riding my horse in the pitch black darkness of night was comparable to dancing in the rain. One person (Anne/Sasha) commented that it reminded her of the word games we use to play here. After that comment, my mind was really on a roll. I wanted to have fun wallowing in the joy of words again.

After that, I got an email from a friend that was about perspective. I thought about that a lot which gave me more pause.

To some, dancing in the rain would be horrible...like swimming in a swamp and getting tangled up in muddy muck. To others (like me) just the thought of dancing in the rain makes me feel passionate and free.

Here it comes! How would you finish this sentence: Dancing in the rain is as good as (or as bad as)_______.

By the way...riding in the pitch black darkness of night is right up there with dancing in the rain barefooted. It's all about perspective really.

I Distorted the Facts!

I love this. Mark Twain said, "Get the facts first then you can distort them as you please."

I just figured out what the fact is for me. I am writing and I'm writing a lot. Because I'm not getting paid I forgot that I was writing. I just remembered what writing is all about. It's about loving the way that words flow onto the paper. It's about wallowing around with words and not caring about a beginning or an end. It's about being excited and smiling while I'm typing. I'm smiling and I'm excited. Glory Hallelujah!

Boy did I ever distort things. Writing is not about being paid. It's about feeling passionate about stories in my heart and my mind. I'm feeling passionate.

Getting paid again will be icing on the cake!

Three Things I Can't Do!

I was just sitting here thinking that I can't go to bed until I finish putting all the things back into the cupboard that I was cleaning out. Since I usually like to write about fun positive things, I thought it would be a change of pace to write about the downside of life. I'm trying to keep a straight face...really I am!
1. I can't dance unless no one is watching.

2. I can't make my hair stay straight when it's humid.

3. I can't make Sammy stop barking when he gets excited...my neighbors love me!

What are three things YOU can't do?

"Our Thoughts" Quotes

I was trying and trying to think of writing we could do together that would be quick, fun, and spontaneous.

Today, as I was looking up quotes online, it came to me. I shouldn't have to look up quotes about friendships, animals, happiness, laziness, or any thing else for that matter. We're all creative and we can come up with a boatload of our own.

With that in mind, please finish the next sentence with the first thing that comes to your mind:

People who make mountains out of molehills.....

If you'd like to sign your name, that's fine. If not, that's fine too. Just be aware that I might use our quotes somewhere...sometime!
