Lots of Questions!

A question is a short important piece of writing. It's a good way to start a story. It's a good way to end a story. It's a way to get creative juices flowing and it's a way to make your reader think outside the box. If you"re a blogger, it's a good way to encourage your readers to come back again and again.

Let's have some fun with our activity. No need to get too serious. Just think of a question or two you'd like to have answered (for fun or for purpose).

I'll go first:

Why doesn't it rain when I carry my umbrella?

Your turn! Ask a question. Do you think someone might leave you an answer or two that will get you thinking...or at least laughing? Could be!

Why is THE NORTH STAR always in the same place in the sky, even though all the other stars move?

Why is it that we want something, and when we get it we just forget about it!

Thanks. You've given me some ideas. I joined an online writers group and have started writing short stories, eight already. In case you have a little time sometime, Jan, the url is greatttt.wordpress.com. Thanks!

Why is it that I can hear a song on the radio or a tv jingle and it will go through my head all day long?

Hey! I just found your blog and think it's great! I love reading all your posts.

I'm an aspiring author, and I've recently written a children's poem that I'd like to see published. Any ideas on where to start?

Hey Kendra...I'm so glad you came by to write with us!

The best place to start with a children's poem is a magazine. In fact, I just submitted two poems to Turtle Magazine last week.

The pay isn't great but it helps you keep up with your publishing credits and it's wonderful fun.

Let me know what age group you are writing for and I can be more specific!

Thanks, Mrs. Mader! I'm fifteen, but the poem is probably geared toward...well, all younger kids. Just any age from like eight and younger I would think.

Thank you for the help!

Why does my cat insist on "burying" her food when she is finished with it? Does she think I can't see it?

Why can't I get off of my butt and clean this house? LOL! I really do not want an answer to that!

Why does housework always expand to fill all the time you have available?

Why is it that whenever I start to clean I get distracted by the smallest things and forget what I started to do?

Hey Kendra...I think that's great! Go online and look for the Children's Better Health Institute. They publish a slew of magazines including Turgle. If you can't find the address let me know and I'll get it for you.

Also, I'm going to look for places that publish poetry by young people. I know they are out there!

Wow, thanks! I'll check them out!
