Sometimes less is more. We don't have to be wordy to paint a picture with our words, we just have to let our imaginations run wild. We need to allow ourselves the freedom to write what our minds can see when we unleash our creativity. We need to allow our children to have the same freedom!
Here's a short sentence to show you what I'm talking about: Oil sizzled on the blacktop.
That was a five word sentence that painted a picture - or at least I think it did.
Are you ready to play with words now? If you are, you're in the right place!
Before you look at the sentence we're going to use for our writing activity, think about the sun. In your mind, decide if the sun is in a winter, summer, spring or fall sky. Once you've determined the season, close your eyes and think about how it looks and feels in this unique scene of your choice.
Answer the following sentence with short colorful words:
If the sun stains the sky, what do it's rays do?

The sun's rays played tag with the passing clouds.
The sun's rays made the sparkle in her eyes brighter.
The luminious rays glistened on the calm sea.
the rays sear the clouds and reach down to the ground like long luminous arms embracing the earth.
The rays are from the realms of Heaven, and are the golden pathways for the Angels to reach Earth.
I was too lenghy?
The pathway of Angels to Earth.
Cotton candy striped skies looked tasty enough to eat.

Question: If the sun stains the sky, what do it's rays do?
Answer: The sun's rays declare God's glory.
I have always felt that even as a little girl.
These are all awesome so far and Faith, remember that nothing is wrong here...if you feel like being more wordy go for it!
I would really like to get the hang of this writing thing...I enjoy the practice. Thank you for your help....I look forward to the next practice.....:)
Rays reach out like comforting arms to fold us into a hug at the end of an especially trying day.

The warmth of the rays uncoil my tighten neck muscles, as I try to soak it all in.

The rays are like the good energy that we can tap into.
