Writing Prompt With Style!

Let's be just like kids again and give ourselves the freedom to pretend. The joy of language and delight of playing with words comes from a healthy friendship between our imaginations and our style of writing.

Some of us are flowery with our words. Others of us can paint a picture with our words even though they are succinct.

What's your writing style? The good news is that there's no right or wrong answer!

Here's a writing prompt to play with. Let's see what we can do with it!

You couldn't help but envy the Smiths. They..........

You couldn't help but envy the Smiths. They have it all. A house filled with only the finest furniture, a backyard pool filled with kids who don't fight, and more cars than they have drivers. Yep the Smiths have everything money can buy. I wonder why they're getting a divorce?

You couldn't help but envy the Smiths. They are living out their dream. They are debt free. They are their own best friends. They have it all.

Tweedles -- that's me said...

You couldn't help but envy the Smiths.
They huddled together, high on a cliff.
The clouds were below.
The bright cannon ball, was rising out of the eastern sky.
This was their first sunrise together.

You couldn't help but envy the Smiths. They always had a half smile tugging at the corners of their mouths and their eyes never stopped shimmering. It was like they knew a secret. A very, very good secret.
I wasn't envious of their happiness, my feelings were much more complex than that. I was envious of their secret. I wanted to know their secret. I needed to know their secret. It gnawed at me day and night. Hmmm...what to do...

You couldn't help but envy the Smiths. They're pet cocker spaniel did it all: washed the dishes, mowed the lawn, cooked meals for the twins, and gave Mrs. Smith back rubs when Mr. Smith was off working late.

Still, wondered how Demetrius managed to attend to them so while maintaining his day job at the local firehouse. And his coat! Always so shiny and manageable. Yes, some detective work was definitely in order, and I, Marcy Conner private eye, was just the one to do it.

You couldn't help but envy the Smiths, they had that certain something, but what was it.? How was it the way that everything seemed to fall their way, even without trying. No matter what they did it was all for good each time, they could do nothing wrong..you can't help but envy the Smith's.
