Just Think for a Minute....

I was at Random Thoughts blog last week and was captivated by some things she wrote in her Daybook. It was clear that she spilled her true thoughts and ideas into her words.

Her daybook was filled with prompts that she completed. One of the prompts was:
Outside my window....

Here's Trudy's sentence: Outside my window the day is full of sunshine and blue skies. The birds are out in full force feeding at the feeders.
Did that paint a picture for you? It did for me!

Isn't it amazing how a few words can inspire what you write? For today's activity, I'm going to use another one of the prompts I found at Random Thoughts. Before I do that please stop for a minute and think about something that is important to you.

Now complete this prompt with me:

I am remembering:

I am remembering all the animals I have rescued and found homes for in the past. Litters of kittens and puppies, dogs half dead on the side of the road. Now I have a deserted collie that I must place by Monday. I really need to dig deep and remember some names of people who might help me.....

I am remembering a quiet little house, surrounded with fruit trees, platypus in the creek, rain aplenty and peace within. This spurs me onto making my list of what I need to do next in order to make the next step towards my dream and life purpose.

I am remembering the moment
when the sky sang.
I was chasing magic bubbles at the sea.
As the sky started to sing
I turned around to listen,,,
And then I ran
to the highest cliff
so I could reach up
and touch the sky
as it sang.

I am remembering long hot summers playing on the sand on the beach in St Ives where my grandparents lived and where we vacationed every year. Everything was endless; the days, the sun, the fun, the ice cream.

I am remembering the fresh mackeral brought home by my fisherman grandfather for our tea - and the fishy smell that was always in the house.

I am also remembering the woollen swimsuit knitted by my mother, which weighed 10lbs when wet and clogged up with sand. I suffered from "butt droop" most of the summer!

I am remembering how beautiful summers are... As I stood there, on the sea shore, the winds blowing onto my face, with such a force. The waves gently washing the shore....

I am remembering..when my boys were babies, and how it felt to hold them close, and they would nuzzle my neck, and their beautiful heads, soft after a bath and how good they smelled. I remember kissing them all up..so loveable

I am remembering fun lighthearted family vacations; ones that weren't filled with what if's. One's that were filled with camping, hiking, fishing, and laughter around the campfire.

Thank you Jan.

I am remembering how much fun it was to play in the snow when I was a child. I am remembering playing in the snow with my child. We built snow forts. Had snowball fights. I taught him how to carefully lick an icicle. And I taught him NEVER, EVER lick a metal pipe. I wanted him to learn from my experience.

I am remembering, as the snow continues to fall today, going to the beach after a similar snowstorm with my friend during our senior year of high school.

Living so close to the shore of Lake Michigan, I have always felt it was there for me anytime, not just in the summer. It's always been an inspiring place for me to think. It never fails to impress me with its size.

I spent every summer as a child directly across the Lake in Lakeside, Michigan, so when I look at it I remember those carefree summers; long days playing in the sand and water with my sister, brother, cousins, and friends. Then coming home and watching my father outside bar-b-que-ing, even under an umbrella if it was raining.

I remember walking down to my grandmother's cottage just down the gravel road every morning to eat Farina.

I especially like to go there when it's not summer, or during a thunderstorm (not safe!), or, as we did in the winter of 1979, to climb on mountains of ice and snow.

I'm sure if I ventured out to the Lake today, it would look a lot like it did then. The only difference is that the day we went was after the storm. If I tried to drive or walk down the steep slope to the Lake today durinng the storm, I might end up IN the Lake.
