If You Could Only Read Minds!

Have you ever glanced at someone in an ordinary situation and wondered what they were thinking? I have, but that's just me. I look at everyone as a character for a future book. I even can get a little imaginary dialogue going on!

For our writing activity today, I want you to picture a suntanned thirty-something man standing at the front of a very long line. You watch as he glances over his shoulder, but you can't see his eyes because they're hidden behind his sunglasses. You think you see a smile tug at the corner of his mouth but you're not sure because he seems to be sucking on a mint or piece of candy.

Knowing that this man is first in a horribly long line, what do you think is going through his mind as he surveys the crowd behind him?

He's probably thinking the same thing I would in that situation. I'm glad I got here when I did or I would be somewhere in that long line behind me.

The man has finally reached the front of the line. As he looks over his shoulder he wonders if she has waited all this time for him. He thinks to himself as a smile tugs at his mouth, " Aw there she is. I am so glad she is here with me. This line has taken forever, but knowing she was there waiting has made ti seem faster."
When his business is over he links his arm with hers. She says, "I am so glad that I am here with you."

Tweedles -- that's me said...

The young man had distanced himself far away from the worrys of the world, and the long line at the grocery store.
His mind had waundered far away to the cozy retreat in the mountains, where he had spent the past month.
A smile started to creep across his face as his mind raced backwards.
He was remembering the smiling face, of that "someone special" whom he had just spent the time with.
He was still imagining her smiling face, as she opened the gift he gave to her.......

All of a sudden reality hit him.
The reality came with a sudden force, as the clerk asked him if he wanted paper or platic.

Not sure I should say what I think he's probably really thinking. lol

He's look around and wondering if he might get lucky any of them. I'm told men think this way ALL the time!
