Powerful Words - Eternal Quotes

It's possible that the legacy my mother left for me is the joy I find in playing with words. She was constantly playing word games, writing poetry, and saying things that made no sense at all. We grew up knowing that our clothes didn't match when our mother would look at us and say, "You look like Ikey Forcus."

Neither my sister nor I ever asked who in the heck Ikey Forkus was, but we knew he must have combined stripes and plaids a lot!

Here's the funniest thing about what my mother said: Her quote lives on through me and my adult children. "Go put something else on," I would say to my boys, "You look like Ikey Forcus."

Last week my granddaughter told me that she was late coming out to the car (where I was waiting for her) because she looked like...You've got it!....Ikey Forcus and needed to make a quick change of clothes!

I was trying to think if I've said anything original enough for my kids to remember. Before I write anything down, I'm going to ask them to be sure. I have an idea of what they might say. I'll report back.

Meanwhile, do you think you have pontificated an idea, opinion, or emotion enough that it will be an eternal quote? If so, what will your eternal quote be? If not, what famous quote applies to you the most? Please share!

I am always saying "Holy Mariah"
I don't know where I got it from, except in the movie "Paint Your Wagon" there is a song called "They Call The Wind Mariah". Could be from there I just don't know.
I also always used the mothers fall back line "Because I said so".

Tweedles -- that's me said...

I don't have any special memories of any saying.
But my mommy always say she is "fine and dandy just like cotton candy" She does not know where who invented that saying.

What a special feeling it must be to have those treasures to live in your heart forever.

We have a saying in our family "she came in looking like Mary Booshee!" Think it was my Gran that started that one.

When I was younger I once said, after a social event, that it was very "connivial", which caused great hilarity and ever since no one has bothered to use "convivial" as an adjective!
